Sorry for the lapse in posting...

The last few weeks have been very busy. Between different kids being sick and then I pulled a muscle in my back. My back is still hurting but hopefully I'm on the mend.

I haven't worked on any projects in about ten days. I'm hoping to start working on something in the next day or two. Before I hurt my back, I did an early Spring cleaning of our house. It took me a week and a half but it is done. We bought a new dining room table from my in-laws. It was only two years old and they needed something smaller so that kind of got me going to tear into the house. We also bought a new living room set, this is a big thing for us. We hadn't had a new set in over 20 years. I had a few mismatched chairs and a couch I bought last year from the Salvation army. I kept the couch and put it in the computer room. Our new set is so pretty. I'll take some pictures and put them up.

So what have you been up to? How is the family?

kids and stuff

Marion,

Here are some pictures of the kids. I really like the one on the wall with all of them. From left to right is Krista, Kayla, Billy, Tara and Tabitha. You can't tell in the background but the roll is right in front of the ocean. We were there when it was getting dark. The other picture is of Tara, always looking for the camera. We were at a playground and the clouds that day were gorgeous.

I have some good news. I'm starting to feel much better! It's been a long haul and I'm not 100 percent yet, but I'm getting there. The bonus of being sick is that I have lost over 20lbs. Let me tell you, I still need to lose a bunch more. I'm been on a low sodium diet for about a month and that seems to be working for me. Along with having little to no appetite.

My bag is done and felted except for the handles. I will hopefully finish the handles today and felt them. I will put a picture up when the project is complete. I'm not really sure what's next. I will wait until I'm done then decide.

What are your plans for the weekend? Not sure here yet. I love the pictures that you posted. It was neat to see the RR up on the wall. And your daughter, she is gorgeous! And from what you've said, she really seems to have a good perspective on things. You must be very proud.

Guess that's it for now. I have some more chores to finish up.

Hi Marion

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty full. We went over a friends house for dinner and fellowship with some church families. It was a lot of fun. Dinner was delicious and we played Taboo afterwords over dessert. All the kids had fun playing with each other and we look forward to perhaps doing it again in the future. Sunday night we went over my brother-in-laws for dinner and watched football. All the guys (and me) were thrilled that our New England Patriots made it to the next round of the play offs. They weren't expected to but they surprised a lot of people.

I've been working on my felted bag on and off this weekend. I really hope to finish knitting the bag today and start the i-cord. I'm anxious to start using it.

I was excited to read about Tracey's job, you must be so proud of her! I hope she enjoys it, it sounds like she will! Kayla is off to start a new semester today it will be her last semester at the Avery Point campus. Next year she will have to travel to Uconn's Storrs campus. I know she is dreading the travel time, but she will be that much closer to becoming a teacher. Tabitha has mid-term exams all week and will be home for lunch every day. I look forward to that. I can get lonely sometimes with just me and Billy.

Well, I guess that is a good update on the goings-on here. You have a luncheon today, right? I love to hear about that.

Good Morning Marion...

Sorry I didn't get to post again, but this sickness is really taking it's toll on me. I went back to the doctor's yesterday. They were very surprised that the antibiotics didn't get rid of the pnemonia entirely. But it didn't. I have a severe viral infection. So they gave me three different prescriptions to treat the symptoms and make me more comfortable. It's kind of a waiting game. The good news was my blood pressure was much better. When I went to the doctors on Dec. 19th I knew I had high blood pressure but I was kind of ignoring it (dumb, I know), but it was very high (210 over 120), not good, anyway that put me on a medication and gave me such a lecture that it terrified me. I put my self on a VERY LOW SALT diet and I take my medication every day. When they checked it yesterday it had improved alot! It was 138 over 88. Still a little high but a vast improvement over a short period of time. I'm very proud of myself and will keep doing what I'm doing. I have also lost 15 pounds, which is a very good thing.

Enough of that. I'm working on my felted bag and wanted it done by the weekend but it's not going to happen. That's okay though. Did you work on your afghan....how was your luncheon Tuesday?

I included two pics. One is of my oldest dd Kayla and her boyfriend Buddy. It was the first day of Awana and they are both leaders. The other is dd #2 Tabitha. Her first day of school this year, she's a junior. Doesn't she look thrilled? LOL

A few pictures

You are so good about putting pictures up. I'll try to get better about doing that. The top picture is Tara it was taken just as school was let out for summer break. The bottom picture is Tara and Billy. I dressed them similar that day and they thought it was pretty neat! The top picture is of course Billy, being a clown. It was two days before his 4th birthday. I'm going to see if I can get some more pics up later today. I'm really glad your party went well and I hope you enjoy your lunch today!

Hi Marion!

I was thrilled to see all the photos you posted. Your house looks beautiful! I love the way you decorate....very homey. Wish I could come and visit you!

Sorry I hadn't posted in a few days. This darn cold is really taking it's toll on me. I am going to go back to the doctor's tomorrow. My husband isn't convinced that the antibiotics cleared the pnemonia (sp?).

I started my felted bag on Saturday, but have done very little on it. I wanted to be using it this weekend but I don't see that happening. I was very excited with a gift I received this weekend from Kayla and her boyfriend Buddy. It was his idea. They bought me an MP3 player. I have been wanting one and was going to ask for one for Mother's Day. I can't figure out how to upload the songs but Buddy is very good at doing it for me. I still want him to show me. It also holds pictures, I think it's the coolest thing!

Anyway, I finsihed that dishcloth I was working on, I'll have to post a picture of that and the yarn for my bag.

Sorry to make this so short, but I'm running a bit behind and Billy is begging to play a computer game. I'll try to post later! We are going to see a play tonight with our church, I'm very excited, I've never seen a play before!

Good Saturday Morning to you Marion.....

I thought I would sleep in this morning, but it didn't happen. I am still hanging on to this cold and had a coughing fit that practically shook the house. Amazing enough, all the kids are still sleeping. I tried reading in bed to see if it would put me back to sleep, but I'm one of those people that once I'm up I'm up for the day.

Your swedish weaving is amazing. It looks very complicated! I love looking at other people's projects. What type of needle do you use? Is it a particular one for swedish weaving? I'm clueless about this craft. You'll have to go into more detail when you get time. I'm a curious crafter, LOL.

It sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you Sunday. I'm sure it will all go well. Those are a couple of good looking kids you have there!

I went to my LYS (local yarn shop), it's called KnitWits, yesterday and bought some beautiful lime green wool and a variegated mohair. I'm going to make myself a felted bag. I think the style will be similar to the red one I made for my mother-in-law. I haven't started it yet, because I have a small project in the works I want to finish first. Have you ever heard of knitted dishclothes? You use them to do your dishes and you knit them in cotton. I have made several and they work up fairly quickly and make nice gifts. I made my mom a set of four for Christmas and she refuses to use them. She doesn't want to get them dirty. LOL....I told her how sturdy they are and they can be washed over and over but she insists on using them as doilies. As long as she likes them, it's fine by me. Anyway, I'll take a picture of the yarn later today to show you. I also purchased a button to fasten it with. The button was $1.75 but it went so perfectly with the yarn, I just had to get it.

As for family, all is well. Bill is still working a lot and I worry about him. He has a very physcial job and he looks exhausted some days when he gets home. He's a good husband and dad. The kids, Kayla (19) has been dating the same man since June. He is her first boyfriend and they get along really well. He is here everyday and fits in with the family very well. He is a bit older than her and at first Bill and I were unsure. He attends the same church as us and asked her out for ice cream, we didn't think it was a big deal, one date, then it lead to another and another. We're happy with the relationship, he is very good to her and he feels like a family member. His father died when he was younger and his mom passed away about five years ago. So, I think he enjoys being around all of us. He (his name is Will, but everyone calls him Buddy), is quite the character and makes Kayla laugh like I've never seen her laugh. So as long as she is happy, we are too. Tabitha (16) is doing well also, she has some friends that she is very close to and my relationship with her is thriving. She used to seem hard to get close to, but we are closer now than we ever have been. Krista (who will be 12 the end of this month) is our social butterfly. She's always on the go being invited to parties and sleepovers. She has four friends from school she is close with a few from church. She's always busy! Tara (7) is a "mommy's girl" she sometimes has a hard time leaving me for school but I'm hoping she will eventually get over it. She's a sweetheart who very rarely does anything wrong and adores her baby brother. Speaking of Billy (who is now 4) he is still a handful. Very strong willed and witty for a four year old. He is all boy, rough and tumble and loves to aggravate all four of his sisters. Well, I think your pretty well updated. Time for you to update me on your family. I know you were renovating not that long ago, how did that go? Fill me in!

Sorry if this was a bit long, but I tend to ramble sometimes. We will make a good team for this blog. I hope your enjoying it as much as I am.

Terry

Good Morning Marion!

What a couple of beautiful kids you have there! I have to get a picture of our family to put up for you. We took one of all of us in front of the tree but it's on my daughters laptop. I'll have to see if she can send it to me and I'll post it.

Here is a link (I hope) to my photobucket. If you want to look at some of the things I've knitted, not everything but a decent amount. I'm bad about remembering to take pics of my projects. http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y193/Terrylee66/Knitting/

I'm so intrigued by your Swedish Weaving. Put up a pic when you get time. What colors are you using? Are you working on anything else right now?

Well, gotta run, time to get kids up and moving!
